Book Recommendation of the Week

The Power of Now

by Eckhart Tolle

"In this mind-identified state, fear of death affects every aspect of your life. For example, even such a seemingly trivial and "normal" thing as the compulsive need to be right in an argument and make the other person wrong - defending the mental position with which you have identified - is due to the fear of death. If you identify with a mental position, then if you are wrong, your mind-based sense of self is seriously threatened with annihilation. So you as the ego cannot afford to be wrong. To be wrong is to die. Wars have been fought over this, and countless relationships have broken down.

Once you have disidentified from your mind, whether you are right or wrong makes no difference to your sense of self at all, so the forcefully compulsive and deeply unconscious need to be right, which is a form of violence, will no longer be there. Your sense of self is then derived from a deeper and truer place within yourself, not from the mind."

Re-Writing our (Hi)Story

Sun 25th April 10am - 1pm
with Angad Kaur in Leamington Spa

"People disguise themselves with all sorts of costumes, but in the end, they are seen as they truly are." - Guru Arjan Dev, Sri Guru Granth Sahib

The soul is a passenger passing through time and space, but what are the costumes we wear while passing through? Our costumes are made up of the stories we tell ourselves and others, and reproduce as patterns throughout life. They shape our ideas and beliefs about who we think we are, influencing our relationships, behaviour and experience of the world around us. But what are they serving and delivering us to?

If we gain understanding of the law of karma in our lives we can render our history transparent and give life to dharma. By re-writing the stories from our past, a potential new picture unfolds the possibility of fulfilling our true destiny. We will explore how the qualities of numbers can guide us in a process of transformation. Download Flyer.

Costs: £15. Venue: Anand Kunalini Yoga Centre, Leamington Spa. Contact: Inderjit Kaur, 07717 188 655, inderjit@anandky.org.uk. Diagram by Shiv Charan Singh.

Just Say No! - Developing the Strength and Courage to Say No!

Sunday 18th April 2 - 5pm
with Angad Singh in Brighton

The appropriate expression of NO! is essential in order for us to exist in the physical world. Saying NO! ensures we can maintain our boundaries and ensures our personal wellbeing. We must be able to say an appropriate NO! to the things we don't want in this world before we are able to say YES! to the things that we do! This workshop will use the tools of kundalini yoga and experiential movement to help you embody the psyche of NO!, develop the strength and courage to express NO! and release negative patterns associated with saying NO!

"Those who do not express their psyche through the vibration of the body will fail in communication and action" -Yogi Bhajan

Costs: £22. Venue: Yoga Haven, Donkey Mews, Brunswick Street East, Brighton, BN3 1AW. For more info please visit www.kundalinirising.org. Book direct with Yoga Haven, info@yogahaven.co.uk, 01273 329 624.
